Fans of the HBO show will soon be able to explore the iconic filming locations as they open to the public in a new project.

Game of Thrones set

With the popular show concluding its filming, after a decade in Northern Ireland, its producers will be converting a selection of filming locations into tourist attractions.

This development means that fans of the series will have the opportunity to visit iconic sets from the show and get a behind-the-scenes look at the work put into the show.

A full description of the Game of Thrones Legacy project, as it’s being called, will be revealed at a later date and the attractions are due to open next year.

Iconic locations

Sets expected to be involved are that of the fictional Winterfell, Castle Black and Kings Landing, as well as a studio tour of Linen Mill Studios, showcasing an array of Game of Thrones objects.

Locational details are still to be announced.

HBO will be opening up the production archives and offering an opportunity for the public to set foot inside some of the most iconic locations from the series and behind the camera lens to see how the show was made.

Each site will feature sets and also displays of costumes, props, weapons, set decorations, art files, models, and other production materials.

The visitor experience will also be enhanced by ‘state-of-the-art’ digital content and interactive materials, which aim to showcase some of the digital technology used for the series.
