All corners of the travel trade and group travel organisers decended on the five-star Royal Lancaster Hotel on Friday 12th June for the Group Leisure & Travel Awards ceremony and to recognise the best of the best.
Organised by Group Leisure & Travel magazine, the annual awards are voted for by GTOs and coach tour operators, recognising the attractions, destinations and individuals delivering outstanding experiences.
The evening featured laughs during the drinks reception from Faulty Towers The Dining Experience and was hosted by comedian and West End performer Luke Kempner, along with Group Leisure & Travel publisher Rob Yandell.
Sue Povey of Out and About With Sue was named Group Travel Organiser of the Year®, and praised for her dedication in arranging diverse trips ranging from theatre visits to international tours. Meanwhile, Anthony McGinley of ATG Group Sales received The Excellence Award for his commitment to supporting group organisers. You can hear from both in this video.
Among destination and attraction winners, ABBA Voyage took Best Event or Live Experience, LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort won Best Attraction for Children & Families for the third consecutive year, and County Durham was named Best UK Destination for the second year running.
A special Outstanding Contribution award was presented to Tony Lincoln, recognising a 50-year career in travel and tourism. The interview in the video above is well worth a watch.
