The RPO celebrates its 70th anniversary this September.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will celebrate its 70th anniversary this September, and has announced details of its 2016/17 season to mark the occasion.

The orchestra will be performing concerts and shows at some of London’s most famous venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall.

RPO’s 2016/17 season

The RPO will play a number of shows in the coming months. At the Royal Albert Hall, audiences will be able to enjoy the RPO 70th Anniversary Gala on 19th September, Best of Broadway on 18th October, Symphonic Rock on 23rd November and The Music of Bond 11th April.

Other highlights at the Royal Albert Hall will include a Film Music Gala, ABBAphonic, Eric Whitacre’s Great Choral Classics and a Tchaikovsky Gala.

Productions taking place at the Royal Festival Hall, located at the Southbank Centre, will include Marin Alsop conducts Shostakovich on 27th February, Pinchas Zukerman conducts and performs Beethoven on 7th February and Vasily Petrenko conducts Verdi’s Requiem on 13th April.

In a more relaxed style, shows to take place at Cadogan Hall will include Everlasting Love: Songs of the Sixties, Barry Wordsworth conducts Romantic Favourites, and Tasmin Little performs Tchaikovsky.

Group booking information

The RPO welcomes group bookers by offering parties a package of discounts and benefits, such as up to 35 per cent off ticket prices, two free concert tickets per booking, and a free concert programme for every member of the group.

GTOs can also take advantage of no payment being required until eight weeks before a concert, and a dedicated group booking line.

As of this month, RPO has extended its groups package to parties of just six people.
