Interpreters will bring historic figures to life in the castle grounds.

Taking place on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th October, Characters Through History will see the castle’s grounds filled with costumed historical interpreters, who bring Arundel’s Norman past to life.

Characters will range from a crusader and knight to an archer and the Master Falconer.

Groups can also enjoy live crafting and weapon demonstrations and listen to tales from a travelling storyteller, whilst traditional music on authentic instruments will be played by wandering musicians.

Food and drink will be available from the castle’s café and tea terrace and guests can bring a picnic to enjoy within the grounds.

Andrew Lewis, castle manager at Arundel Castle, explains more about the event: “Our Characters from History events offer visitors a direct connection to Arundel’s past - not just through the setting, but through the people who shaped its early story.

“The 12th century was a formative period for the castle, marked by siege and survival. So, if you’re looking for something different to do with the family in the October half-term, this event brings that history to life in a way that’s both informative and fun.”
