As part of the Group Leisure & Travel 30th anniversary celebrations, GTOs could enter a prize draw for a three-night stay at Potters Five Lakes Resort in Essex. The lucky winner reports back.

Carol Gower and Bridget at Potters Resorts

Carol Gower and her sister-in-law enjoyed various food and drink options, including a relaxing coffee in the café overlooking the golf course.

Carol Gower, GTO for CBA Millenium Outings, enjoyed a weekend break with her sister-in-law Bridget who helps her with a range of administrative tasks when she is organising trips for the group which is based in Cranbrook, Kent.

The pair loved the comfortable accommodation and variety of dining options and made plenty of new friends during their stay.

Carol won her stay at Potters Resorts from one of five competitions which were part of the 30th anniversary edition of Group Leisure & Travel Magazine in March.

Carol said: “Potters’ hospitality is doubtless second-to-none. They simply get everything right! The accommodation is roomy and the beds very comfortable. The restaurant service is friendly and efficient, with a varied menu at every mealtime complete with wine.

“Clearly the ‘happy vibe’ rubs off onto all guests - we found them friendly and chatty, with several celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries on suitably decorated dining tables.”

Carol and Bridget got involved with many of the indoor and outdoor activities available at Potters Resorts, trying their hands at shuffleboard and yoga and enjoying the popular evening entertainment.

Shuffleboard was a favourite for Carol and Bridget during their stay.

“We enjoyed both long and shorter walks around the vast site weaving between the various activities on offer outside, and had fun either participating in the wide range of extensive offerings in the indoor games area - or just watched others as they took on a competitive stance on the shuffleboard, bowling rinks or dartboards, etc. All the equipment is well-spaced, up-to-date, spotlessly clean and in very good order”, Carol added.

“I took part in a yoga class, whilst Bridget was pampered in the spa… as well as taking coffee stops in the peaceful Lake View Lounge overlooking the golf course.

“But it is the entertainment programme which deserves the highest accolade. This team is excellent. The nightly shows in the theatre are simply the best…. surpassing some West End productions, in our opinion. These have to be seen to be believed - yet they come within the inclusive price paid for your stay! What good value!”

“It was not difficult to see why there was a queue at the ‘rebooking desk’ when I walked by it. Well done, Potters … and thank you!”

Carol and her group have already got more visits to Potters planned. In November they are staying at Hopton-On-Sea in Norfolk, where they will also be visiting the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and they have added another stay at Potters Five Lakes Resort to the group’s calendar for 2026.
