West Horsley Place is inviting groups to explore its rich history while enjoying a selection of indulgent treats, from mulled cider by the fire to a traditional afternoon tea.

Located in Surrey, 700-year-old West Horsley Place has launched new food and drink packages, for up to 66 guests. The new addition to the historic tour offers visitors an afternoon of heritage along with delicious and seasonal refreshments.
Dating back to the 15th century, the estate has medieval origins, Tudor connections and even links to British royalty. The property may also be familiar to groups, having featured as a filming location for BBC’s Ghosts, ITV’s Vanity Fair, Netflix’s Enola Holmes and more.
Public programme and outreach lead at West Horsley Place, Jo Ellison, said: ”We can also add those extra touches that turn a visit into a really memorable day out, whether that’s afternoon tea, sparkling wine and canapés, or mulled cider beside the fire in winter. It’s about bringing people together to enjoy the house, its stories and its beautiful surroundings.”

Food and drink experiences
Groups can enjoy a mulled cider by the fire in Stone Hall – the very place where King Henry VIII would dine and what would have been the medieval Great Hall. There are cream teas available in the oak-beamed Manor House, which is surrounded by walled gardens.
Other options include sparkling wine and canapés on arrival or departure, depending on the group organiser’s request, or a full afternoon tea. Menus and pricing are available according to the groups size.

Heritage, background and filming location
With a history spanning seven centuries, West Horsley Place has been home to nine families, including the notorious King Henry VIII.
The Grade I listed estate is set in 400-acres of Surrey countryside and was originally used as a moated fortress, before coming under ownership of the Tudor King. Henry VIII eventually gifted the property to his close friend and royal cousin, Henry Courtenay.
More recently, the estate may be familiar to guests as it has been used as a filming location for several television dramas, most notably Button House in BBC’s Ghosts. Other productions filmed in the grounds include Howard’s End, My Cousin Rachel and Mothering Sunday.
