The new musical telling the story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash is set to open in March, with casting for the title roles announced.

The Ballad of Johnny & June is narrated by the character of John, son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, and told from his perspective. John Carter Cash has has co-created the musical and helped shape it based on his own memories of his parents.
Opening at Churchill Theatre, Bromley, where it will run from 2nd to 7th March, the production will then move on to 20 venues across the UK including Theatre Royal, Brighton; The Lowry, Salford and Blackpool Opera House, touring until 19th September.
Christopher Ryan Grant will reprise his role as Johnny Cash off of the back of sell-out seasons at La Jolla Playhouse, California and Canada’s Citadel Theatre. He will be joined by Christina Bianco (Forbidden Broadway, The Wizard of Oz), starring as June Carter Cash.

The Ballad of Johnny & June transports audiences through the soaring highs and shattering lows of a love story that defined an era. Told through the eyes of their son John Carter Cash, this new musical shows why Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash remain one of the most iconic couples in music history.
The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys) and is packed with a soundtrack of hits, including I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Hey Porter, Jackson, I’ve Been Everywhere, and Wildwood Flower.
