School Travel Awards

The inaugural School Travel Awards presentation and lunch, hosted by Group Leisure’s sister magazine, School Travel Organiser, took place in London this month and was a huge success.

The School Travel Awards are designed to recognise the individuals and companies who go the extra mile when it comes to school trips and giving children the opportunity to learn outside the classroom.

More than 300 teachers, education experts and school trip providers attended the event, which took place at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.

Attendees described the initiative as ‘brilliant’ and ‘a first of its kind’, while television journalist and national newsreader, Fiona Bruce, who hosted the awards ceremony, said: “The School Travel Awards celebrate something that is so important in all our lives. We all remember our school trips from our childhood and I loved mine.

“They were a hugely important part of my education. People enjoyed themselves at the awards ceremony and what was great was that people came up on stage who normally would not do so. We had teachers up there and schools up there that do all the hard work back at their schools around the country, and they went to the School Travel Awards to be recognised.”

17 awards were handed out at the School Travel Awards ceremony in categories that ranged from Best Venue for Science Learning to School Trip Champion.

The School Travel Awards for 2017/18 will launch in February, with next year’s lunch and ceremony taking place on 9th November in London.
