Group travel organisers experienced Leicester’s rich heritage during the recent AGTO Showcase Weekend, with fam trips to the newly transformed Jewry Wall Museum and Leicester Cathedral.

Hosted at the Holiday Inn Leicester, GTOs and the travel trade came together for the Association for Group Travel Organisers (AGTO) event to network, socialise and discover what’s on offer for visits to the area.
Fam trips across the weekend included the King Richard III Visitor Centre and the Jewry Wall Museum. The latter opened in 2025 after a major transformation, with one of the UK’s largest surviving Roman bath houses restored into a modern museum housing Roman artefacts that are brought to life through immersive and interactive displays.
Guests stepped back in time at the Great Central Railway for a journey along the UK’s only double track, main line heritage railway.

Belvoir Castle also featured on the itinerary, known for its role as a regal backdrop in the likes of The Crown, The Da Vinci Code and The Young Victoria. Group organisers explored the castle’s fascinating history and had a spot of retail therapy at The Belvoir Retail Village next to the castle.
Guests who attended the AGTO Showcase Weekend enjoyed a Bollywood-themed gala dinner and entertainment from West End performers.

AGTO’s chief executive Wendy Hartley-Scarff said the event was a “valuable opportunity” for GTOs and partners to network and socialise.
She added: “This year, around 80 delegates travelled to Leicester from across the country, finding new ideas and inspiration for future visits to the city and county.”
