Sir David Attenborough-led exhibition opens in London

The 360 degree experience, located in the museum’s Jerwood Gallery, is presented and narrated by Sir David Attenborough and tells the story of the evolution of life on Earth using a blend of real-life and artificial footage.

Produced by the filmmakers behind many of Sir David Attenborough’s documentaries, this new 50-minute experience blends footage of the natural world with cutting-edge animation to create an informative and entertaining immersive exhibition which focuses on our relationship with the planet. Content has been designed for ages eight plus and the show is currently booking until late December.

The display takes visitors through the birth of life on earth and its evolution, watching a family of gorillas play in their lush forest home and following the journey of a humpback whale beneath the waves. The experience also tells the story of humanity, from our earliest beginnings to the tipping point when we begin to influence the world around us.

Along with narrating the exhibition, Sir David Attenborough appears on screen to deliver a message of hope for our future. Speaking about the exhibit, Sir Attenborough said: “We explore two stories – the 4-billion-year epic of the Earth, and our own, relatively brief chapter, the story of humankind. These two stories are not, at this moment, aligned – but they could be.

“My hope is that anyone visiting the Our Story experience will come to understand how important humanity is in writing the planet’s next chapter.”

Group visits to the Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is open daily from 10am to 5.50pm. Groups are advised to get in touch with the museum via feedback@nhm.ac.uk to book a visit. For groups travelling by coach, the drop-off point is outside the main entrance on Cromwell Road.
