Spa Valley Railway

Spa Valley Railway in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is introducing a new group offering including afternoon tea on board a steam train.

The offering, which will be available from 2018, includes a new itinerary called Afternoon Tea in the High Weald.

The afternoon tea service will operate on selected Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.

Afternoon Tea in the High Weald

Afternoon tea includes tea and coffee and three types of finger sandwich: smoked salmon with cracked black pepper and lemon, free range egg mayonnaise with rocket, baked ham and wholegrain mustard and homemade sausage rolls.

The cakes include chocolate and raspberry slices, lemon meringue cheesecake and fruit and cream filled tartlets. Not forgetting a scone with jam and clotted cream and a mini shortbread biscuit.

Tickets include travel on a 1960’s heritage diesel train and afternoon tea.

More for groups

Other specialities popular with groups at the Spa Valley Railway include Fish and Chip Specials which include either a fish and chip lunch or fish and chip supper where everyone can enjoy the traditional meal on board a heritage train whilst travelling through the High Weald Countryside.

Murder Mystery Evenings are also popular, where diners can try their hand at solving a murder. The evening starts at Tunbridge Wells West Station with a briefing, then everyone transfers to a train. Clues and more evidence are given throughout the evening while passengers enjoy a fish and chip supper followed by an ice cream desert. All will then be revealed back at Tunbridge Wells West.

The railway provides plenty more packages suitable for groups including seasonal events and lunch and dinner packages.

Groups of 20 or more will receive a discount off normal return fares.
