About the trip and our itinerary: a choice of walks and stunning scenery
We will all stay at HF Holidays’ characterful country house, Newfield Hall which is set in two acres of grounds between Skipton and Malham. There will be a welcome pack in your room with everything you need for your stay, including menus and order forms for dinners and picnic lunches.
After checking-in (from 4pm), you will be treated to a delicious cream tea with freshly baked scones followed by some downtime before a three-course evening meal and then a welcome talk and presentation.

The second day will begin with a fully cooked English breakfast before a full day guided-walking excursion with a choice of two walking experiences to give you a taste of the Yorkshire countryside.
If you opt for the most gentle route to Janet’s Foss & Malham (a four-mile route in sections, with 160 metres of ascent), you will be picked up via coach and then walk through National Trust land to view Janet’s Foss waterfall before exploring Malham village.
The second half of the walk takes you along the Pennine Way to see the magnificent limestone formation of Malham Cove, before returning to Malham village.

The next walk option, Malham Classic Circuit, is a 4.5 mile walk, with 280 metres of ascent. Our group of readers will be picked up from the house by coach and then walk through Wedber Wood to Janet’s Foss and then follow lanes to Gordale Scar. An ascending path, the Dales High Way, goes past ancient settlements up to the top of Malham Cove with views down Malhamdale. You then pick up the Pennine Way to descend the steps to the bottom of the cove and follow the clear path back into Malham.
All walks will be fully guided by experienced HF Leaders and personalised packed lunches will be provided and there will be a three-course evening meal. On day three enjoy a full English breakfast before check-out.

HF Holidays’ experience
During this Reader Club trip familiarisation you will get a taster of what walking holidays specialist HF Holidays offers groups.
HF Leaders host guided walking information briefings before dinner to explain the choice of different grade walks available the following day. Before setting off on guided walks, your HF Leader will run you through a short safety briefing. There is also an up-to-date weather forecast on display at the house to ensure you have appropriate clothing and footwear.

It’s also an opportunity to sample the seasonal dining at HF Holidays’ Newfield Hall. The team of skilled chefs design the dinner menus to showcase the best of each season, from warming winter comfort food to vibrant summer dishes. They also source fruit and vegetables within a 40-mile radius of each house, offer a Chef’s Special menu inspired by dishes and flavours of the local area, and are able to adapt dishes to suit special dietary requirements (always advise when booking).
Newfield Hall has been part of HF Holidays’ collection since 1934 and has been treated to a series of refurbishments over the years. It boasts 46 guest rooms, two cosy lounges, a licensed bar as well as a handy boot and drying room for after your walks.
How Reader Club works
Our trips and tours provide group travel organisers with the chance to familiarise themselves with venues, attractions and destinations they feel may be of interest and suitable for their group. It’s a ‘try before you buy’ scenario, and all GTOs are welcome, but please only join us if this is a viable option for your group.
If you have any queries feel free to telephone the GLT editorial team on 01908 613323 or send an email to readerclub@groupleisureandtravel.com.
