The trainline, which has routes to Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester, is offering groups of ten or more a 25% discount on Advance Purchase tickets.

TPE is offering further reductions for groups across its services for northern England and Scotland.

The limited-time offer sees the TransPennine Express (TPE) increase its existing group savings rate from 20% to 25%. The promotion is available now until 6th July and applies to journeys across the TPE network up to and including 30th October. 

Groups can enjoy enhanced savings on selected services, including routes between Liverpool and Newcastle, Liverpool and Hull, Manchester Piccadilly and Cleethorpes, and Manchester Airport and Redcar Central. 

Darren Higgins, commercial director for TransPennine Express, said: “We’re pleased to be offering even greater value for groups with this limited-time sale, making it easier and more affordable for people to travel together. 

“Our network connects towns and cities right across the North and into Scotland, and we want to encourage more people – including larger groups – to choose rail as a convenient and more sustainable way to travel.”

Groups can take advantage of the limited-time offer for trips to York and other popular destinations.

Highlights for groups

The TPE network provides direct access to the Lake District, Durham Cathedral, coastal towns such as Scarborough and Dunbar, and the cultural hubs of Manchester, Liverpool and York. 

Groups can also make use of the offer to travel to Hull for the much-anticipated reopening of the Hull Maritime Museum in August following a major renovation and extension. 

TPE’s network consists of:

  •  North TransPennine – including Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street, Redcar/Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport, Scarborough to York, Edinburgh to Newcastle and Hull to Liverpool Lime Street
  •  South TransPennine – including Cleethorpes to Liverpool Lime Street via Doncaster, Sheffield to Liverpool Lime Street, and Manchester Airport to Sheffield
  • Anglo Scottish – including Liverpool to Glasgow, and Manchester Airport to Edinburgh

The increased discount can offer significant savings compared with standard fares, particularly when compared to Anytime tickets. For example, a group of 15 travelling from Liverpool to York could save up to £69 when using the discounted Advance fare instead of purchasing Anytime tickets. 

Groups must travel together on the same service to qualify for the discounted tickets.
