Manchester sightseeing bus

Visitors to Manchester can now take daily, year-round, hop on - hop off city bus tours.

Sightseeing Manchester: the hop-on hop-off city tour, gives visitors a new flexible way to discover Greater Manchester’s top tourist attractions.

Tickets for the tours will remain valid for 24-hours from the time of purchase, meaning there is more freedom when visiting.

The tour will run daily with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and will have multiple departures with tours estimated to last around 90 minutes.

The tour: where can you go and what can you see?

As part of the phased launch, the tour has commenced with an initial route that begins in Albert Square before visiting 15 tourism hotspots through Manchester, Salford and Trafford.

Stops on the tour include Manchester Town Hall, Piccadilly Gardens, Church Street, the National Football Museum, Victoria Station, Manchester Cathedral, Salford Cathedral, The Lowry and The Quays, the Imperial War Museum North and the Museum of Science and Industry.

Additional routes which incorporate East Manchester area are currently being developed for the tour and will be introduced later in the year. Visitors will be able to hop on and off between routes using their one purchased ticket.

English commentary for the tour will be provided by Lord of the Rings and Lost actor Dominic Monagham.

Group discounts are available for parties of four adults or more, and are sold in multiples of four.

Manchester is known as the birthplace of the industrial revolution as well as having a history is science, politics, music, art and sport. The tour will point out interesting facts and key moments in Manchester’s history and their links with the tourist spots seen along the way.
