The Storied Lands, the UK’s first live-action show park which opened in July 2026, will feature an expanded Victorian experience among other planned developments in 2027.

The attraction will return to Bishop Auckland from 29th June to 12th September 2027, offering a full day of live shows and immersive experiences alongside the opportunity to combine a visit with the award-winning Kynren – An Epic Tale of England night show. An Epic Tale of England will run every Saturday from 17th July to 11th September, plus Friday 13th and Friday 27th August.

What to expect at The Storied Lands in 2027

Five live experiences explore myths, legends and historical periods through live-action performances and immersive arenas.

These include the mass free-flight spectacle of The Lost Feather, medieval horsemanship in The Trusty Steed, fiery battles in Land of the Vikings and impressive stunts and special effects in Legend of the Wear.

In 2027, Kynren will expand its Victorian world to include live characters and unfolding stories within a more immersive experience. The walk-through area will feature passageways, alleys and cobbled streets containing a cast of characters from Victorian Britain. Groups will meet the likes of the Society Sisters, a mischievous maid and a pick-pocket among others.

There will also be over 40 life-size shops and scenes, including an apothecary, cobbler, schoolroom, sweet shop and pub, with the sets dressed with genuine Victorian artefacts.

In response to visitor feedback from the opening season, further developments are being made for 2027 such as additional covered seating and shelter around the park, including at Land of the Vikings and Legend of the Wear.

Enhancing group offer with variety and special rates

Kynren chief executive Anna Warnecke said: “One of the great advantages for groups is the sheer variety. In the space of a day you can watch horses and birds, encounter Vikings, find yourself among the characters and stories of Victorian Britain and see a North East legend unfold on water, with each experience taking place in its own purpose-built setting.”

Prices have also been held at 2026 levels, which Anna said “gives group organisers the confidence to start planning and selling their visits now.”
