Saga Mystery Cruises

On these unique sailings, you’ll be kept guessing about your destinations until the very last moment. We take a look at just some of the Mystery Cruises on offer.

Saga offers groups the option of booking on a mystery cruise – with its next such voyage setting sail in November.

Leaving from Southampton, Saga Sapphire, will cruise to different ‘secret’ destinations over three weeks, keeping its 720 passengers and crew guessing.

The itinerary is only revealed day-by-day, and ports are only announced once the ship has berthed.

What we know

There will be an excursion from every port.

All meals are included, plus all-inclusive drinks with choice of table wines at lunch and dinner, house-branded spirits, draught beer and larger and soft drinks.

There will be 24-hour room service, a welcome cocktail party, free wifi, optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights.

Guaranteed VIP Chauffeur service to and from the port are included in the price, along with travel insurance.

An array of mystery celebrity guests will be joining on-board.

Captain Horne adds: “I’ll only tell my navigation team and engineers as much as they need to know for route planning and fuel management. After all, the more people in on it, the greater the risk that someone will let slip the next destination and spoil the fun.”

Entertainment

One certainty of the sailing is the presence of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, who will entertain on six nights.

Directed by Chris Dean and featuring star vocalist Sarah Eyden, the orchestra recreates big band standards by music legends, including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and George Gershwin.

Fred. Olsen’s offering

All cruises departing before February 2019 also include unlimited on-board drinks.

For a similar experience, the Fred. Olsen Mystery Cruise can offer a sailing experience where you are also kept guessing until the last moment.

The ship is described as smaller, and guests will be sharing the adventure with hundreds – not thousands – of others.

There are five mystery cruises to choose from, from seven to 12-night experiences.

Voted the Best Cruise Line at last year’s Group Leisure & Travel Awards, Fred. Olsen ships also visit destinations such as the islands of the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, to the fjords of Norway.
