The Scottish attraction has announced winter group travel rates in a move to promote Inverness and the Highlands as a year-round destination for groups.

The Inverness Castle Experience, set within the 19th-century riverside fortress, aims to bring the Highlands to life through powerful stories from local voices that ‘reflect the Spirit of Highland landscape, culture and identity’.
The attraction is now accepting enquiries from tour operators and group organisers for visits for the rest of 2026 as well as provisional dates for 2027 and 2028. Later dates will be confirmed closer to the time of travel.
As well as advance booking, reduced winter group rates will apply for bookings between 1st November and 21st March 2027. It is hoped that by encouraging bookings outside of the peak summer months, both the attraction and local businesses will benefit year-round.
Amy MacLeod, head of The Inverness Castle Experience, said: “By encouraging group visits throughout the year, including the winter months, we can help support local businesses and position the Highlands as a destination that offers something special in every season.

“Planning for future years gives confidence to organisers while allowing us to deliver a high‑quality experience for guests and ensuring the benefits of the visitor economy are felt across the city and the wider Highlands.”
About The Inverness Castle Experience
Inverness Castle was never a traditional castle at all. Built in the 1800s, one half was used as a courthouse and the other half a prison. Now, it has been re-purposed to immerse visitors in the Highlands through interactive installations, exhibits and hands-on experiences.
The voices of the seanchaidh (storytellers) lead groups on a self-led tour of the North and South Towers, sharing stories of legends and local people, past and present, from across the Highlands.
As well as the castle exhibits, there are gardens (free to enter), the Great Glen Roof Terrace that overlooks the city and the River Ness, a shop and a bistro.

Planning a group visit
Groups of up to 20 can book into the regular public opening times. Groups of more than 20 are offered early access slots, granting entry before the Castle opens to the general public, and will be met by a host who will explain the attraction and its exhibits. Visits are self-guided but complimentary audio guides are provided for the South Tower.
Every trade group booking receives free entry for one group leader. The site is fully wheelchair accessible except for one part of the South Tower viewing area, and there are lifts to all floors in both the North and South Tower.
