A video of ponies Albert and Ernie enjoying a steam train journey before exploring some of Devon’s top attractions has gone viral.
Watched, liked and commented on by millions of people so far on Facebook and YouTube, the clip created by Emma Massingale follows the journey of two ponies checking out some of the attractions on offer.
They are seen in the luggage compartment of a 1930’s steam train, operated by South Devon Railway, before disembarking at Buckfastleigh and visiting the Buckfast Butterflies & Otters Sanctuary.
It has been released ahead of South Devon Railway’s re-opening from Monday, 17th May after a year without running steam trains along the valley of the River Dart from Buckfastleigh to Totnes. The attraction has said it has a new team in place with a fresh focus to encourage visitors and coach groups back.
Its 2021 group travel programme includes joint ticketing options with other attractions in the area - Kents Cavern and Stuart Line Cruises.
