Arena River Cruises has expanded its programme of sailings this year with the addition of two departures accompanied by renowned gardening experts and excursions to the Floriade Expo 2022.
The world-famous Floriade event, which takes place every ten years in Amsterdam, runs for six months between April and October and is described as inspiration for keen gardeners, showcasing top tips and ideas from across the world, with a focus this year on the theme of ‘Growing Green Cities’.
The new programme includes two five-day trips in late May, sailing from Amsterdam aboard the new MS Arena.
Departing on 21st May, the first cruise will be accompanied by Christine Walkden, a horticultural expert who is known for sharing her passion on various radio and TV shows including Gardeners’ World and The One Show, as well as leading tours in the UK and overseas.
On 25th May, a second departure will be accompanied by Helen Yemm, a self-taught gardener and lecturer who has been a gardening columnist for nearly 20 years, a TV gardening expert, and the author of Gardening in Pyjamas.
In addition to giving talks and Q&A sessions on board, both experts will accompany passengers on a full-day excursion to Floriade.
Also included in the cruise itinerary are visits to the historic cities of Hoorn, Den Helder and Harlingen, plus optional excursions to the Medemblik Bakery and to join a cheese and wine cruise along the waterways of Amsterdam.
Both five-day cruise prices include return coach travel from the UK, ferry crossings from Dover, entry to the Floriade Expo and the services of a cruise manager throughout.
