Senior group travel executive Caren Braithwaite discusses which holidays and cruises are proving popular with groups and why Uzbekistan has a special place in her heart.

Which holidays and cruises are proving popular with groups for 2026?
Lanzarote and the Costa Blanca in Spain have always been popular. But we have seen a rise in popularity in Montenegro. These destinations offer great value and appeal for group travellers, especially as the hotels we have here are excellent Special Interest Holiday centres based in specific locations for holidays focused around activities including walking, history and archaeology, and music.
We also have our new river cruise ship launching in 2027, Spirit of the Lorelei, which offers customers a new experience and opens up more of Europe’s waterways.

What kinds of activities can groups take part in onboard Saga’s cruises?
Both our ocean and river cruise ships offer a full and daily programme on board, with talks, games and onboard entertainment. For the 2026 season, we’re also including an excursion in every port of call so customers can really make the most of the destinations we visit.
Tell us about your special interest holidays
We offer a wide range of special interest holidays, from walking trips in the Dolomites and Spain to bridge-playing breaks in Tenerife and visits to beautiful wildlife gardens. There are also dedicated food and wine holidays, along with tailored support for large cycling groups. Whatever the interest, we provide plenty of options to suit different hobbies and passions.

Which holiday or cruise destinations would you recommend?
I recently had the chance to visit Uzbekistan and it completely stole my heart. The people were incredibly welcoming, the food was fantastic, and the temples, madrasahs, mausoleums and bazaars were truly breathtaking.
I had no idea just how much history and culture the country had to offer, and I’m already planning to go back with my husband.
What makes a group holiday with Saga stand out?
We have a dedicated groups team so we can offer support from the moment they enquire until they return home. With our nationwide chauffeur service, dedicated Saga hosts and tour managers, included porterage and selected excursions, we take care of the details so guests can simply relax and enjoy their holiday. It is all designed to create a smooth, hassle-free experience from start to finish.

How do you help groups with the booking process?
Once the group leader confirms they’d like to go ahead, we create individual booking references so each guest can manage their own holiday details. We then work closely with the group, handling each booking personally through single points of contact and answering any additional questions along the way.
Our team is also on hand before travel to help personalise the experience, such as arranging dedicated rooms for activities for the group.
