Carnival Cruise Line has entered the final stage of its $2 billion enhancement programme with the rebranding of one of its ships.
As part of the investment, the cruise line’s ship Carnival Victory will be dry docked before returning to the fleet as Carnival Radiance in 2020.
The transformation of Carnival Victory
The refurbishment of Carnival Victory, to be renamed Carnival Radiance, will mark the end of this phase of the enhancement programme. Following a 38-day dry dock in Cadiz, Carnival Radiance will enter service in 2020. Homeport and itinerary details for the new ship will be announced in mid-November.
The updates will see the cruise line’s popular culinary, bar and entertainment options offered on board the new ship.
The NextGen connectivity Wi-Fi system, currently in operation on Carnival Horizon and Carnival Vista will also be installed on Carnival Radiance.
About the investment
The programme, which began in 2011 has since seen a $2 billion investment that has allowed for the refurbishment of more than 20 ships, delivery of three new ships and three additional ships scheduled for delivery through 2022.
The investment work will see speciality dining options, WaterWorks aqua parks, enhanced accommodations and amenities offered across the fleet.
As Carnival nears the end of this phase of the investment, it is switching its focus to providing a better on board technology experience for guests. The Carnival HubApp is now available across all of its 26 ships, with more than 20 percent of on board speciality dining and tour excursion purchases being placed through it.
The cruise line is also piloting a ‘pizza anywhere’ service on select vessels, with the goal being that guests will be able to order food and drink from the app for delivery to their location anywhere on board.
