Top cruise itineraries to look out for in 2020

We take a look at some exciting cruises that groups should look to for inspiration.

We know groups love a cruise, and with so many cruise lines, ships and voyages available, you’ll find plenty that tailor to your interests. 

Carnival Legend will operate Carnival Cruise Line’s most diverse European season to date with nine to 16-day voyages visiting 34 ports in 14 countries including destinations in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Croatia, Portugal, Greece, Greenland and Iceland in summer and autumn of 2020. 

Highlights include: a 16-day Northern trans-Atlantic crossing from New York to London from 3rd-19th June; a nine-day Norwegian Fjords cruise round-trip from London between 19th – 28th June; and a 16-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to Tampa from October 30th – 15th November.

Following on from the success of its ‘Four Ships in Bergen’ event in September 2015, and ‘Captains in Cadiz’ event in September 2018, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced that is fleet of four ships – Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch – will be reuniting once again, this time in Funchal, Madeira, on Saturday 4th April 2020.

The four Fred. Olsen ships will be deployed on four different itineraries around the world, and will converge in Funchal for a lively programme of events. The ships will then sail the following itineraries: Black Watch’s 14-night ‘Azores & Madeira’ cruise ex. Liverpool on 26th March 2020; Braemar’s 12-night ‘Closer Spain & Portugal with Madeira’ cruise, ex. Southampton on 28th March 2020; Boudicca’s 19-night  ‘Cape Verde Islands’ cruise ex. Dover on 29th March 2020; and Balmoral’s 16-night ‘Canary Islands’ cruise ex. Newcastle on 29th March 2020.

The 2020 summer programme for Cruise & Maritime Voyages has recently been revealed and is said to be the largest ever collection, with more choices and itineraries. From voyages to Baltic cities, Russia and the British Isles, groups will find the ideal destination to enjoy their summer days. 

The Hidden Baltic Treasures & Kiel Canal itineraries will depart on 25th March 2020 onboard Astoria, visiting Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania and Poland. During this cruise, groups will discover the hidden gems of the Baltic Sea as well as transit down the Kiel Canal. Places you might visit include Bornholm Island, Visby, and Gdansk.

If it's river cruises your group enjoys, then CroisiEurope is a great option, with an abundance of itineraries to choose from, whether it be the Rhone, Rhine, Seine or Douro. One itinerary that stands out is the eight-day cruise to see the Oberammergau Passion Play in 2020. 

The itinerary begins with a six-day Danube cruise from Budapest to Passau, visiting Bratislava, Vienna and Melk. Guests will then transfer to Oberammergau for a two-night stay where they'll get to experience the world-renowned production.

Royal Caribbean's 2020 cruises are also on sale now, including voyages to European countries, the USA and Canada, and Bermuda among others. 

Cruises from the UK include a 12-night Mediterranean Tour departing on 31st August 2020. This cruise will visit locations including Malaga, Nice, Barcelona, Gibraltar and Vigo, onboard Independence of the Seas.

The brand-new Norwegian Encore, from Norwegian Cruise Line, is launching in late 2019, and will be starting it’s first full year of cruising with itineraries from New York to Bermuda. Featuring three days at sea to make the most of the attractions on board such as the largest go-track at sea, a laser-tag arena and Kinky Boots The Musical, it also has three days docked in Bermuda to make the most of exploring the island.
