The award-winning show is one of several brilliant creations by Mischief.

Disrupting the West End for over a decade, Mischief’s award-winning landmark comedy The Play That Goes Wrong continues to wreak havoc in its 11th year at the Duchess Theatre.

You all know the classic whodunnit story, there has been a murder at a country manor and an inspector is set on the case to find who the culprit is.

However, when this plot is given to the accident-prone thespians at The Cornley Drama Society, everything that can go wrong… does!

“The play’s cleverness and creativity keep us on our toes — it’s great fun to sit there, never quite knowing what could possibly go wrong next.”

Interview with cast member Jonty Peach who plays Jonathan…

What do you think makes TPTGW one of the funniest and most enduring plays in the West End?

I think it hits a perfect comedic sweet spot - it’s both timeless and brilliantly constructed. Watching people fail spectacularly taps into a shared human experience we can all relate to; that mortifying feeling of wishing the ground would swallow us whole becomes something we can laugh at together. At the same time, the play’s cleverness and creativity keep us on our toes - it’s great fun to sit there, never quite knowing what could possibly go wrong next.

What’s it like to perform in a historic venue like the Duchess Theatre?

It’s a great privilege for us all. It is amazing to be on a stage that has homed The Play That Goes Wrong for 11 years - but being in a building full of stories is very special. I’m sure there have been hundreds of ‘goes-wrong’ moments that we could laugh at if the walls could speak.

Which member of the cast is most like their character?

I’d have to say Tom Wainwright. Just like his character, Max, Tom has an incredibly infectious smile and a wonderful sense of playfulness. I think both he and Max are never too far from a bit of fun mischief.

Why should people book to see TPTGW as a group?

It’s such a special opportunity to come and laugh together. You’ll get two hours of pure escapism and become part of 11 years’ worth of audiences who have fallen in love with this farcical classic!
