With an abundance of seasonal activities throughout the year there is always something to enjoy whenever you decide to visit, including fascinating, specialist talks within the castle, which are available on a pre-booked basis.

And now there’s truly no better time to visit the castle, as 2019 officially marks 900 years since a stone castle was first built on the site back in 1119. Nine centuries later, Leeds Castle is an iconic historical treasure like no other, offering experiences you can’t get anywhere else, all in one place.

The castle will be commemorating its 900th anniversary with a series of exclusive events and entertainments for all to enjoy throughout the year, in addition to all the usual exciting activities on the estate.

Leeds Castle Concert

The Leeds Castle Classical Concert brings together The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor, John Rigby in a spectacular outdoor event.

Surrounded by the still waters of its historic moat, the castle offers a truly unique setting to enjoy a grand day out. This year, picnic under the stars and be entertained by fireworks and much-loved classical music performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on 14th July 2018 at the 40th Anniversary Classical Concert.

Visit again from 15th to 20th September 2018 to be amazed by the creativity of international award winning florists and floral designers at the Festival of Flowers, where there will also be pre-bookable floral workshops, specialist talks and demonstrations. Having been owned by six Medieval queens, the castle is often referred to as the ‘ladies castle’, and this year, floral designers will be dressing the rooms with fragrant blooms and floral finery to the theme of ‘Ladies Day’.

There will also be a guest talk from English garden designer and TV personality Joe Swift, as well as an opportunity to buy beautiful flowers, David Austen roses and English garden accessories from a variety of stalls on the Pavilon Lawn.

Get into the festivities of Christmas at the Leeds Castle Christmas Market, (open on selected weekend dates in November and December 2018). Enjoy a splendid array of seasonal gifts, toys, decorations, and festive food and drink before meeting the reindeer and birds of prey. Be entertained by a nostalgic fairground, with rides on a Victorian carousel and a trip on the big wheel, offering incredible views of the castle from above.

From 24th November 2018 to 1st January 2019, groups can step back in time to festive stories of old at Leeds Castle’s ‘Once Upon a Time at Christmas’. The magnificent castle rooms will be displayed with glittering decorations and fragrant pine trees, themed around a selection of traditional winter tales. Wander through the castle and choose your favourite Christmas story, which will include The Nutcracker and The Snow Queen.

Leeds Castle is delighted to be able to offer group bookings with discounted admission rates, special group menus by prior arrangement, in addition to tailored group talks and tours. The castle also provides groups with ample free hard-standing coach parking, a dedicated team of experienced Group Co-ordinators to help plan your day, and a free meal voucher and visit for the coach driver.

Leeds Castle is located near Maidstone, Kent just off Junction 8 of the M20 and only one hour’s drive from London. Grounds open at 10am daily and the Castle is open from 10.30am.
