Forbidden Forest - Warner Bros. Studio London

A new permanent expansion dedicated to the Forbidden Forest will open at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on 31st March.

In the novel and film franchise, the Forbidden Forest is an area strictly off-limits to Hogwarts students and is home to mythical creatures, many of which were looked after by care of magical creatures’ professor, the half-giant Hagrid.

Much like the other sets at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, such as the Great Hall, Dumbledore’s Office and Diagon Alley, the new attraction is set to be an accurate recreation of the set used in the film series.

Many of the crew members of the Harry Potter series, including Oscar and BAFTA winning production designer, Stuart Craig; BAFTA winning creature and makeup effects designer, Nick Dudman; and BAFTA winning special effects supervisor, John Richardson have helped design and build the new Forbidden Forest attraction.

It will be filled with 19 trees, a full-size model of the creature Buckbeak, as well as Aragog the Acromanutula, an enormous spider with a leg span of over 18 feet.

Visitors will also be able to control the weather in the Forbidden Forest using the same techniques created by the filmmakers.

Stuart Craig, production manager on all eight Harry Potter films, said: “Over the course of the eight films, the Forbidden Forest has played a key role and I think it’s an exciting addition to the Studio Tour.

“The Forbidden Forest is full of mysterious, fascinating and sometime threatening forces. It represents the great unknown compared to the comfort and safety of Hogwarts and the Gryffindor Common Room, which makes it so interesting and important to the development of the story.”

The new expansion will also mark the fifth anniversary of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter in Hertfordshire.

Groups will be able to visit the Forbidden Forest as part of their ticket price to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, however tickets must be booked in advance.
