Viking Star

Viking Cruises has announced details of its new winter northern lights itinerary which will explore Norway’s far north.

The new itinerary, In Search of the Northern Lights, will be launching in 2019 and will be the first winter Arctic Circle route that Viking Cruises has offered.

In Search of the Northern Lights

The new ocean cruise itinerary will allow guests the opportunity to explore the far north in Norway’s winter, during a peak period for aurora borealis sightings.

The cruises will sail between London and Bergen from January 2019 on-board Viking Cruises ship Viking Sky.

On the cruise guests will be able to experience Norway’s ‘pristine beauty’ and ‘dramatic snow-dusted wilderness’ with a chance to stargaze and scan the skies for the northern lights.

The 13 day itinerary will also allow guests to immerse themselves in the rich culture of northern Europe, visiting seven destinations, with overnight stays in Tromsø, Alta and Bergen, Norway, and a complimentary excursion in each port.

Further highlights on this cruise will include experiencing the northern lights in Alta, discovering Nordic life with the Sami Community in Máze, visiting the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø, stepping into the Viking Age in Stavanger, and visiting Mount Ulriken in Bergen.
