The Ned

A brand new hotel called The Ned will open in London this spring, boasting a club, spa and collection of restaurants.

London-based Soho House & Co and New York’s Sydell Group have joined forces to create The Ned.

The property is set to open in April and will include a collection of restaurants, 252 bedrooms and a range of grooming services.

The Ned is set in the former Midland Bank building and was designed by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens in 1924.

It will include a rooftop area with 360-degree views across London, a pool, the Canopy Bar and Restaurant, and two Dome bars for eating and drinking.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy food from restaurants built in the former Grand Banking Hall, including Cecconi’s City of London, which will serve handmade pasta, pizza, seafood and wood oven dishes.

Other restaurants will include The Grill Room and the Dime Diner.

The bedrooms will channel 1920s and 1930s designs, with vintage pieces, hand-knotted rugs and rainforest showers.

Brass and mahogany furniture, chandeliers and richly patterned furnishings will complete the bedrooms.

More for groups

Groups travel organisers will have the option of hiring out various private rooms and two terraces for organised events or meetings.

These rooms include The Drawing Room – which is said to have the feel of a library, with painted, panelled walls, etchings, lithographs and paintings from the period – and The Wren Room.

The latter is named after architect Sir Christopher Wren, and has original chandeliers, wood panelling and a carpet inspired by large-leaf Verdure tapestries.

Booking for The Ned has now opened.
