The event at Easter 2017 will see some of the world’s largest ships descend upon Greenwich, before they leave for a journey across the Atlantic Ocean.
The festival will run from 13th April to the 16th April and will feature a parade of sail taking place on the Sunday evening, showcasing around 40 tall ships and a number of smaller class C and D ships.
The ships will sail down the Thames in convoy at around 5pm on the Sunday. Greenwich will be home to a programme of events in 2016/17, including foodie tours, a new exhibition at the National Maritime Museum and small exclusive after hours Champagne tours of the Painted Hall in The Old Royal Naval College.
July 2016 will also see the Queen’s House transformed and reopened to celebrate its 400th anniversary.
The royal villa will have been closed for almost 12 months before it reopens again with refurbished galleries, new displays and colour schemes and the reintroduction of royally commissioned paintings.
This includes Orazio Gentileschi’s Joseph and Pitiphar’s Wife, which was last at the Queen’s House 360 years ago.
