A line-up of upcoming events taking place in Shrewsbury over the spring has been revealed to include a regatta and a rock concert.

Visitors to Shrewsbury, Shropshire, in May can enjoy a range of events that will take place across the town, from food, to music, to sporting events.

On 6th and 7th May visitors to Shrewsbury can enjoy the Pengwern Boat Club’s annual Regatta.

The Shropshire County Agricultural Show will take place on 27th May at the Greenhouse West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury. It is said to be one of the oldest agricultural shows in the country. Visitors attending will be able to sample local produce and enjoy live entertainment and music.

Also taking place on 27th May, for those looking for an alternative, is Let’s Rock Shrewbury, which will have an 80s line-up, including Billy Ocean, ABC, Tony Hadley and T’Pau. 

Other artists performing at the music event will include Heaven 17, Nik Kershaw, The Real Thing, Altered Images and Jaki Graham.

Those in Shrewsbury on 28th May might like to watch the Cycle Grand Prix, which sees a number of cyclists racing around Shrewsbury’s historic town.

Seb Slater, executive director of Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID), said: “With so many quality and diverse events to complement Shrewsbury’s appeal as a destination town, we are certainly kicking off the tourist season in style.

Besides these events, there is plenty for groups to do when visiting Shrewsbury. The town runs next to the Severn River, which makes for plenty walks.

Additionally, visitors interested in art can visit the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. There is also Shrewsbury Castle for history lovers.

River cruises can also be arranged for those wanting a tour from the water.
