About the mission

The Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of Operation Mincemeat, a successful British deception operation to disguise the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily.

The mission saw two members of British intelligence obtain the body of Glyndwr Michael, a homeless man who died from eating rat poison, dress him as an officer of the Royal Marines and place personal items on him identifying him as the fictitious Captain (Acting Major) William Martin.
