Running from 25th November to 21st December, Nutcracker Noir invites groups to explore five immersive spaces featuring performances, eccentric characters and a three-course meal.
Based in Shoreditch, at Protein Studios, the new immersive dining experience reimagines Tchaikovsky’s 1892 Nutcracker ballet, blending theatrical storytelling, dining and immersive sets.
Guests will follow the storyline of Clara, an orphan raised in a fantastical world, as she stages her own wild version of The Nutcracker to save her father’s crumbling theatre; journeying through five immersive spaces complete with fantasy elves, Christmas bodegas and a trip to the North Pole, before arriving at the grand theatre for the main performance.
As the story unfolds guests will be served a multi-sensory menu which has been created by Jenny McNeill, an immersive dining specialist who has previously worked with Gingerline and the three Michelin starred Fat Duck. Each course on the menu is designed to reflect the storyline and a range of themed cocktails will be available.
What’s on the menu?
The final menu has not been confirmed, however the sample menu includes:- Rum-spiked brioche rolls with whipped miso, maple & rosemary butter
- Family Christmas - roast chicken with mustard cream sauce, brünkal & pickled red grapes
- Midwinter salad of seasonal squash, apple, crispy kale & fermented cranberries
- La Recette Perdue – Soused ginger cake, pear & chocolate mousse, custard cremeux, wild blueberry meringue shards
Nutcracker Noir has been created by DesignScene and immersive storytellers Secret Theatre and is adapted and directed by Richard Crawford (SE7EN, The Great Gatsby) and choreographed by Gary Lloyd (Thriller Live, Heathers).
A cast of West End performers will take on the roles in the immersive show which stars Jairus McClanahan (Hamilton), Patrick Wilden (Cabaret) as well as Anita Nicole (The Lord of the Rings - The Ring of Power) in the lead role of Clara.
