The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that Elliot Harper will play Miss Trunchbull in 2019.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that Elliot Harper will play Miss Trunchbull in Matilda The Musical’s UK and Ireland tour in 2019.

The role of Miss Trunchbull will be taken over by Elliot Harper from 15th January at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth.

The tour will then continue, with Elliot playing the role, visiting venues such as the Alhambra Theatre, The Bristol Hippodrome, the Mayflower Theatre and Norwich Theatre Royal.

Elliot Harper’s previous West End theatre credits include The Exorcist, Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. His other theatre credits consist of The Taming of the Shrew, Sweet Charity, As You Like It, Deathtrap and the UK touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar, among others.

Joining him will be Carly Thoms as Miss Honey and Sebastien Torkia and Rebecca Thornhill as Mr and Mrs Wormwood, all of which are set to continue their roles until the tour concludes its run.

The full adult cast includes Richard Astbury, Joe Atkinson, Nina Bell, Peter Bindloss, Oliver Bingham, Emily Bull, Samara Casteallo, Matthew Caputo, Matt Gillett, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Sam Lathwood, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Charlie Martin, Tom Mather, Anu Ogunmefun, Adam Vaughan and Dawn Williams.

The role of Matilda is shared by Sophia Ally, Scarlett Cecil, Annalise Bradbury, Poppy Jones, Emma Moore and Nicola Turner.

Matilda the Musical is inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved book and is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and direction by Matthew Warchus.

The musical is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and is set to tour until 17th August, 2019.
