2015 Hairspray cast

The musical Hairspray has announced a new UK tour for 2017/18, which will visit over 30 locations including Sheffield, Dartford, Southampton and Nottingham.

The new UK tour will open on 16th August 2017 at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and is confirmed to run until May 2018.

Venues along the Hairspray tour circuit include the Birmingham Hippodrome, the Curve Theatre in Leicester and the Opera House in Buxton.

Hairspray is set in Baltimore 1962, where Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is on a mission to follow her dreams and dance her way onto national TV.

Audiences will watch as Tracy’s audition makes her a local star – a role that gives her a chance to fight for racial and gender equality in a turbulent time in American history.

Groups can expect romance, comedy and non-stop dancing and singing during the show. Casting will be announced in due course.
