Mersey Ferries will take visitors on a voyage around some of Liverpool’s sights on 14 new sailings throughout the summer months in 2020.

Passengers on a Mersey Ferries Liverpool Bay Cruise

Passengers can grab a selfie while exploring the sights of Liverpool with Mersey Ferries.

Following a successful trial in 2019 the cruise operator has scheduled the new trips to take place between June and August.

During the three-hour cruise, groups will enjoy the city’s scenery and sights, while learning more about the history and geography of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay with the help of commentary from a Blue Badge Guide.

Along the route, passengers will experience panoramic views of the river, sailing past Royal Seaforth Docks, Fort Perch Rock at New Brighton and along the Crosby Channel towards Blundellsands and Formby.

What else can groups expect?

The sightseeing cruise will also give groups the chance to see Anthony Gormley’s Another Place art installation at Crosby from the river.

The artwork consists of 100 cast-iron, life-sized figures spread out along three kilometres, stretching almost a kilometre out to sea.

Live music will also be performed, courtesy of local artists from Merseyside and a fully licensed bar with a selection of snacks and drinks will be available to buy throughout the cruise.

More sailings next year

Mersey Ferries also has 2020 sailing dates for its Manchester Ship Canal Cruise on sale with special group rates.

The full day cruise takes in the scenery of the canal, giving passengers an understanding of how its construction shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of England.

Each voyage will travel through locks and under bridges mostly unchanged since they were built over 125 years ago. Groups can also see historic buildings, industrial landscape and the area’s natural countryside.

Groups of 20 or more qualify for discounted rates on both the Liverpool Bay Cruise and Manchester Ship Canal Cruise, with coach transfers available. Bookings and enquiries can be made by contacting the group booking team on 0151 330 1420 or by emailing groups@merseyferries.co.uk
