Garden Tours is offering an intimate tour for green-fingered groups who want to explore the gardens of Madrid.

The trip will aim to help groups discover more about the gardens, history and food of Madrid with the help from Anneli Bojstad – local resident and author of Great Gardens of Spain.

The tour will include trips to a number of parks and gardens, as well as private gardens, where visits are often hosted by the owner.

Famous and influential gardens of Spain will also be explored, many of which are normally closed to visitors.

Groups can expect a guided tour of the Boatnical Gardens of Madrid, visits to gardens and palaces of Quinta del Dugue de Arco, El Caprichio and LA Granja, and the chance to explore the historic city of Segovia.

The tour will include five nights accommodation with bed and breakfast, plus four lunches throughout the week and one farewell dinner.

Example day itinerary

After arrival and an evening at leisure on the first day, on day two groups can expect a pre-lunch walking tour of the historical centre of Madrid to begin.

Here, they will receive a brief in introduction to the history of Madrid, its architecture, gardens and city planning. The tour will end at the Royal Palace, which offers views of Casa del Campo and the adjoining Sabatini Gardens and Plaza Oriente.

This will take place at an authentic Madrid restaurant which specialises in fresh and organic Spanish vegetables.

Lunch will be followed by a visit to El Retiro, for a short guided tour of the area.

The evening will be free for leisure.
