A series of events will run in 2019 at Leeds Castle to celebrate nine centuries of history and heritage.
The newly announced programme will join annual events already set to take place, such as the Grand Medieval Joust (25th-27th May), the display of classic cars as part of the ‘Motors by the Moat’ event (11th and 12th May) and the Leeds Castle Classical Concert on 13th July.
Across the course of the year, visitors will also be able to enjoy open air theatre events. The Merchant of Venice will play on 6th July, other films being shown include Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2nd August), The Greatest Showman (3rd August) and Alice in Wonderland (23rd and 24th August).
• From January, there will be a new instalment allowing visitors walking through the Woodland Gardens to step over new bronze timeline set into the pathway detailing key facts about the castle.
• In June, Leeds Castle will host a royal day with HRH Princess Alexandra present to celebrate the opening of the Princess Alexandra Gardens. An exact date and further details are to be confirmed.
• The 900 Carnival of History will run on the 27th and 28th July. The outdoor arts event will bring together national professional arts companies, community participants, dancers, bands, volunteers and re-enactors. The carnival will focus on key moments in the Castle’s history.
• The Festival of Flowers will run from 14th to 19th September. Themed ‘A Floral Party’, the event will see floral displays inside the castle, alongside a programme of talks and demonstrations.
Many of the events running next year will be included in the price of admission.
Groups of 15 or more can benefit from discounted rates that allow entry to the castle, garden and attractions.
Private guided tours are available but must be pre-booked. Themed guided castle tours are also available at a discounted group rate.
