UK canal boat hire specialist Le Boat is expanding its range of holiday styles this year to include a flotilla break in Italy.

Le Boat Launches Self-Driving Flotilla Breaks In Italy

A flotilla is a group of boats travelling together on one route; GTOs are able to book for smaller groups to man their own boat as part of one of these flotillas.

The boats are self-driving, and available to book now for the summer months.

Each flotilla has a lead boat and skipper to host and guide the fleet through the Italian waterways.

Groups will be able to independently steer their boat with the knowledge that the skipper is travelling as part of the fleet company and on hand should sailors need help.

The skipper can also help arrange group activities along the journey, while remaining on hand to assist anyone new to boating.

Small groups can choose from eight boat models for one that best suits their needs. The models accommodate from two to 12 people, including the new Horizon boat .

The Horizon fleet has been created exclusively for Le Boat by boat builders Delphia Yachts, and includes a new innovative layout with an en-suite master cabin, an adjacent smaller second cabin and a roomy saloon with a ‘fundeck’ complete with a sunbathing area.

Shore excursions

There are various shore excursions and destinations available for groups to visit on their flotilla holiday.

These include Casale, Torcello and the Burano Islands, as well as Chicoggia, Venice, Casier and Treviso.

A day spent at Casale could include a visit to Casale sul Sile, the small town and historic square filled with bars, restaurants and shops.

Meanwhile, a pit stop at the iconic bell-tower in front of St Mark’s Basilica is a popular choice in Venice.

Further information

Flotilla bookings include one week’s accommodation on the boat, help from a skipper/guide, and a group BBQ for all participants.

Flotilla holiday departures are available between May and July. The holidays are suitable for sailors at a beginner’s level as well as those with experience.
