What visitors can expect in 2026

Taking place on a seven-and-a-half-acre stage against the backdrop of Auckland Palace, Kynren - An Epic Tale of England features a 1,000-strong cast and crew bringing 2,000 years of history, myth and legend to life.

Told through the eyes of young Arthur, the son of a mining family from the North East, the show takes audiences from Boudicca’s rebellion to Viking invasions, Norman conquests, Tudor drama and Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Horses, donkeys, sheep, goats and a gaggle of geese add to the spectacle.

Ahead of the performance, visitors can step into the Viking Village to watch warriors prepare for battle, blacksmiths meticulously create chainmail in the forge and other skilled craftspeople at work, including a wood carver shaping intricate designs and a weaver creating textiles using traditional methods.
