Chichester Cathedral is inviting group travel organisers, coach operators, arts societies and community groups to book early for this year’s Light Experience, with savings for those who plan ahead.
Group bookings for six or more people before 31st August can take advantage of a 10% early bird discount on adult tickets. The group email booking fee is also waived during the early bird period, and coach drivers accompanying qualifying bookings receive free admission.
Illuminating Art comes to Sussex
Taking place between 23rd and 31st October 2026, this year’s Light Experience presents Illuminating Art, a new immersive installation from Luxmuralis – the acclaimed artistic partnership of artist Peter Walker and composer David Harper. Making its Sussex debut, the show will transform Chichester Cathedral through stunning projection, light and music, taking visitors on a journey through four centuries of artistic creativity.
Inspired by major artistic movements, the arrival of photography, the age of steam and the birth of animation, Illuminating Art promises to be a memorable cultural outing set against the backdrop of one of England’s finest medieval cathedrals.

Timed slots and special tours
Timed entry slots run between 5.30pm and 8.30pm each evening, giving groups the opportunity to spend the day exploring Chichester before the Light Experience begins.
The Cathedral itself offers plenty to keep groups engaged before the evening show. Guided and self-guided tours take in nearly 950 years of history, architecture and art – including the celebrated High Altar Tapestry by John Piper, which marks its 60th anniversary this year.
Specialist tours focusing on the Cathedral’s art collection are also available, as are behind-the-scenes visits to areas not normally open to the public, including the Cathedral Library and Song School (subject to availability). Groups can also take in the popular Spire Visits for panoramic views across Chichester and the South Downs.

Beyond the Cathedral, Chichester’s historic city centre makes for a rewarding day out. Groups can browse independent shops, cafés and restaurants, or visit cultural attractions including Pallant House Gallery, The Novium Museum and Oxmarket Contemporary – making this a full-day itinerary for coach groups and touring parties.
