Mark Williams, who starred in seven of the eight Harry Potter films, will star as Doctor Dolittle at the first ten venues of the new touring production.
Williams, known for his role as Mr Weasley, will play Doctor Dolittle in Bromley, Salford, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Hull, Aberdeen, Northampton, Nottingham and Sheffield. Further casting is to be announced.
The musical’s tour will begin at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on 9th November with its schedule currently confirmed to run until November 2019. Group travel organisers are advised to contact their chosen venue for information about group rates.
What to expect when seeing Doctor Dolittle
Featuring visual puppetry, this new production will be part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the original film starring Rex Harrison and will feature the same songs, including the Academy Award-winning Talk To The Animals.
The show follows the adventures of the eccentric Doctor Dolittle who embarks on a quest to find a Giant Pink Sea Snail that holds the secret of life and makes the world a happier place.
Helped by his human companions and a menagerie of animal friends, including the Pushmi-Pullyu and trusty sidekick Polynesia the parrot, Doctor Dolittle’s escapades comprise a family-friendly production suitable for all ages.

Williams’ many theatre credits include Fanshen at the National Theatre, Doctor of Honour for Cheek by Jowl, Moscow Gold, Singer, A Dream of People and As You Like It for the Royal Shakespeare Company. He also starred in Art in the West End, Toast at the Royal Court and Tartuffe at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
On the big screen, he has appeared in The Fast Show, Father Brown, 101 Dalmatians, and The Borrowers.
