The former Oxford scholar and MP for the city of Chester is a prolific broadcaster in programmes ranging from BBC’s The One Show and QI to Have I Got News for You and Countdown. Brandreth is also a successful author and has penned two acclaimed royal biographies as well as publishing his diaries and seven works of historical fiction.

He recently appeared on the BBC One series Holiday of My Lifetime with Len Goodman during which he went back to Broadstairs in Kent to reminisce about a seaside holiday from 1955.

Brandreth will co-host the ceremony, which takes place on Wednesday 10th October at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, located near the NEC.

Publisher of Group Leisure & Travel magazine, Rob Yandell commented: “We have had the pleasure of working with Gyles in the past on other awards we stage in different markets and he is just brilliant. I know we are in for a lot of fun on 10th October and it will be another memorable evening celebrating all that is best in group travel.”

Brandreth has also been confirmed as the third celebrity speaker at this year’s Group Leisure & Travel Show, held at the NEC on Thursday 11th October. He joins travel expert Simon Calder and gardening TV presenter Carol Klein for what promises to be another successful Seminar Theatre line-up at the ‘must-do’ event for group travel organisers and coach operators.

Exciting changes to the Awards for 2018

This year, for the first time ever, the finalists of the Group Leisure & Travel Awards 2018 will be made public ahead of the much-anticipated black tie dinner. Previously the identities of the shortlisted finalists were private and not revealed until the ceremony itself, but this year the shortlist will be published in the September edition of GLT magazine and online.

Winners of the 20 categories, including the coveted Group Travel Organiser of the Year Award, will be revealed at the event, taking place on the eve of the Group Leisure & Travel Show, which is at the NEC on 11th October.
