There are new experiences for groups to explore Upton upon Severn including a four-hour tasting and history excursion.
The Perry Puddings & Pestilence itinerary takes in the heritage of the area and gives visitors the chance to taste the produce that Worcestershire is renowned for.
Starting with a guided tour at Clive’s Fruit Farm, groups will hear how the owners created a viable working fruit farm, despite a flooding landscape which means the strawberries have to be grown on raised beds. They will then see how the apple juice is made before tasting the various types of apple juice and Perry cider followed by a locally sourced Ploughman’s lunch.
Afterwards there will be an escorted tour of the town of Upton, visiting the riverside and the Old Church Tower, known as the ’Pepperpot’ because of its shape.
Groups will hear about flooding, wars and pestilence and find out about at the rich array of festivals that take place in the town every year. They’ll get to go inside and hear from the guides about the tragic events that made history on the site.
The final stop of the day is a historical pub in the centre of Upton with a local steamed pudding to enjoy.
Groups can also choose another new itinerary, Talk of The Town Heritage Visit on a Shoestring which includes a visit to Upton Heritage Centre located in the ‘Pepperpot’ for a talk about the town followed by a visit to Tudor House Museum.
Founded by Mark and Lavender Beard in the 1990s to house their ever-growing collection of Staffordshire blue pottery, the museum is spread over three floors and a garden and houses a collection about the history of the local area.
This package also features a guided walk around the town with an experienced guide with time to explore the shops, riverside walks or enjoy a bite to eat along the riverside.
