Amsterdam

Ferry operator DFDS has announced a special deal for group travellers on board a mini-cruise to Amsterdam.

GTOs planning a trip to the vibrant capital of the Netherlands can secure a free place for every 10 passengers for two-night mini cruises on the Newcastle route.

Attractions include on-board wildlife spotting sessions with marine conservation charity ORCA, a shop, casino, cinema and kids’ club.

There is live entertainment, bars and newly revamped restaurants. The Explorers Kitchen serves up an international buffet while the premium North Sea Bistro offers a fine dining experience.

Amsterdam highlights

Passengers will have up to five hours to explore the sights and sounds of Amsterdam and sample local delicacies such as kibbeling and oliebollen. Opt for a tour of the Heineken brewery for one of the city’s most legendary group experiences. Learn about the beer-making process and sample beers and buy your own bottle as a souvenir.

You might also be able to squeeze in a visit to the Rijksmuseum, which houses 800 years of Dutch art including the masterpieces of Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Goch.

Alternatively, go to Anne Frank’s House and discover the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263 where the little Jewish girl hid from the Nazis during World War II and wrote her world famous diary
