A set of new coach breaks have been launched to include the chance of travelling on the historic Flying Scotsman steam engine on the heritage Mid-Norfolk Railway for the first time in October.

Flying Scotsman train

The historic steam engine will take to the tracks in Norfolk.

Created by Just Go! Holidays and National Holidays, part of The JG Travel Group, each break includes a trip along the heritage Mid-Norfolk Railway, travelling through the village of Hardingham, as well as the chance to see extensive views of the surrounding countryside, before arriving back in Dereham.

The Flying Scotsman was built in Doncaster in 1923, and is now considered one of the most famous steam locomotives in the world, holding the record for a non-stop run in 1989 with 442-mile trip.

Julie Wilson, groups manager at The JG Travel Group, said: “We know that going forward, experiences and making memories are going to be key drivers when booking holidays.

“The Flying Scotsman is an iconic steam train and travelling on it is something many people would like to experience once in their lifetime.

“We have options with both Just Go! Holidays and National Holidays, ensuring that pick up points are widespread around the UK.”

“However, as it is only visiting the heritage Mid-Norfolk Railway for a limited period in October, early booking is essential and now is the time for group organisers to start promoting it. We have a dedicated groups department who will be happy to assist with any enquiries and discuss free places and tailor-made requirements.”
