Eden Camp was originally a Prisoner of War camp built on an agricultural plot on the outskirts of Malton in early 1942.

The exclusive offer provides the opportunity to explore one of the most immersive history experiences in the UK at a special group rate of £16 per person for groups of 10 or more.

In 2026, Eden Camp will be opening for its main season from 28th March to 1st November 2026.

What groups can expect from a visit to Eden Camp

Visitors can explore 22 original Prisoner of War huts, which feature immersive displays that bring the sights, sounds, and even smells of wartime Britain to life.

Discover the realities of both the home front and front line during the Second World War, with exhibits covering topics such as The Blitz, rationing, the Great Escape, and more.

The 22 huts have been re-equipped to tell the story of The People’s War, the social history of life in Britain from 1939 to 1945.

The camp’s location on Eden House Road on the outskirts of Malton earned it the name ‘Eden Camp’ and its first residents, 250 Italian prisoners, were escorted from Oldham and marched through Malton to their new home. In 1985 local businessman Stan Johnson bought the site and set out creating, within the original camp, what would become the modern history museum it is today.

Each hut covers a different aspect of the war, starting with the rise of the Nazi Party, Hitler and The Outbreak of War.

Groups can enhance their visit with a dedicated talk tailored to your group’s interests.

Other group benefits include:

• Discounted group rates for pre-booked groups of 10 or more.

• Ample coach parking.

• Onsite café ‘WinStan’s’ offering refreshments and meals.

• Fully accessible for all visitors, ensuring a comfortable experience.

Groups can also take advantage of a host of events with standard group rates including; Living History Weekends (4-5th April and 29-30th Aug) and Back to the 1940s (10-11th Oct).
