Dirty Dancing

A new tour of Dirty Dancing will open in Brighton this September before embarking on a UK wide tour running until July 2019.

The show opens at Theatre Royal Brighton on 20th September before touring to Dartford, York, Stoke, Hastings, Southend, Birmingham, Preston, and London, among other venues.

The story of Dirty Dancing

For those not familiar with the story, it’s the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is on holiday in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents. After showing little interest in the resort activities, she discovers her own entertainment in the form of an all-night dance party at the staff quarters. Mesmerised by the raunchy dance moves, Baby wants to be part of the scene, as she catches sight of Johnny Castle, the resort dance instructor.

The story of Baby and Johnny, featuring the hit songs Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me? and (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life, returns to the stage, following two West End runs, three UK tours, and multiple international productions.

Casting will include Michael O’Reilly as Johnny Castle, making his professional debut in the show, and Kira Malou, as Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman. Kira is a member of the Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage family already, having played the role of Baby regularly during the 2016-17 UK tour.

Simone Covele will star as Penny Johnson.
