Details Announced For Alpamare Scarborough Waterpark %7C Group Travel News

The opening date for Alpamare Scarborough has been announced; the £14 million alpine-themed waterpark will open on Thursday 28th July.

The waterpark will be Alpamare’s only coastal attraction and the first in the UK, and will boast adrenaline inducing waterslides, which are said to be the longest and fastest in Britain.

The attraction is also set to offer a giant indoor wave pool that erupts every 30 minutes with metre high waves.

In addition, there will be an outdoor garden pool and iodine infinity pool with massage jets, whirlpools and bubble benches, a terrace overlooking Scarborough’s coastline and landscaped gardens with sunbeds, a pool bar and a restaurant.

The rides

The different slides will be up to 116 metres long and will cater for four person inflatables, double inflatables and racing mats.

The Black Run will be the steepest and fastest slide of the park, with a drop of 11 meters.

The Cresta Run, meanwhile, will be based on the famous Cresta Run toboggan track in St Mortiz. It will see riders propelled down the equivalent of a black ski run, head first on a racing mat.

The more family friendly Olympic Run will be the longest of the four slides at 116 meters long, and will allow for a shared ride on a double inflatable.

And the signature Snow Storm will see four person inflatables hurtle riders down more than 14 meters of twists and turns.

Dr Anton Hoefter, Alpamere chief executive officer, commented: “The announcement about when we will be open for business is a great milestone in the development of our world class waterpark. Yorkshire is a truly amazing county and we’re confident that we are delivering a truly amazing, all year round attraction for the county and the UK to be proud of.

“We’re now on countdown to 28th July and we really can’t wait to welcome our first visitors through the doors!”

Following its opening, a European Thermal Spa is also set to launch next year.
