“We have new members joining us, a good balance sheet and an association that goes from strength to strength.” That was the positive message from CTA chairman Robert Shaw at the organisation’s recent AGM and conference, held at The Holiday Inn in Oxford.

The two-day event commenced on Sunday 20th May and featured fam trips to Bodleian Libraries on the Sunday morning and then Blenheim Palace, including lunch and a very welcome afternoon tea, before departure.

Perfect weather set the scene for a very happy occasion and a surprise encounter with Sir Winston Churchill at Blenheim (a remarkable likeness portrayed by Stan Streather) was a highlight.

“It’s all about communication and helping each other in a friendly and effective way, and I think this latest event has been another great success.”

A group of CTA members was welcomed by Blenheim partnerships manager Sarah-Jayne Beasley who said: “We are really delighted to welcome the CTA here at Blenheim today. Coach tourism is such an important part of our mix of visitors and we have a wonderful sunny afternoon when everyone can enjoy the unique Blenheim experience, including our spectacular gardens.”

The Bodleian Libraries visit was also a big hit, with one CTA member commenting: “I really had no idea what Bodleian Libraries can offer and our trip this morning was a real eye opener. It is a remarkable venue and they even offer walking tours of Oxford. We shall certainly be back.”

On the Sunday evening there was a networking dinner with entertainment and the actual AGM took place on Monday morning which also featured guest speakers. A networking table top mini-exhibition followed the AGM before a light lunch for delegates before departure.

Summing up, chairman Robert Shaw added: “It’s been a most enjoyable two days and it was great to see so many members participating, including new members joining us for the first time. It’s all about communication and helping each other in a friendly and effective way, and I think this latest event has been another great success.”
