Craig Revel Horwood will direct the show.

The nine-month tour will see the show travel to a range of venues across the UK and Ireland, opening in Nottingham on 26th September 2020, before travelling to the likes of Wolverhampton, Hull, Milton Keynes, Sunderland, Bristol, Bromley, Edinburgh and Liverpool to name just a few.

Craig said: “I am absolutely delighted to be directing the 2020/21 UK tour of Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

“The theatre is where I come alive and it is there that I feel in my most creative element. Having directed the UK Arena Tour of Strictly Come Dancing for the past few years, I simply cannot wait to put my stamp on this iconic and much-loved musical.

“Expect some sexy moves, sizzling costumes and a simply sensational evening.”

Featuring a book by Baz Luhrmann & Craig Pearce, plus more than 20 performers, Strictly Ballroom includes songs such as Love is in the Air, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Time After Time.

This year’s tour will also include new songs by artists such as Sia, David Foster and Eddie Perfect.

Casting will be made in the coming months, with the tour dates stretching up until June 2021.

About the show

Telling the story of Scott Hastings, a talented, arrogant and rebellious young ballroom dancer, he finds himself out of favour with the Australian Federation and dancing with Fran, a beginner with no moves at all.

Inspired by one another, the pair gather the courage and work together to make their way into the limelight.

Described as an ‘uplifting and courageous musical’, the show is based on the 1992 film of the same name.
