Groups can now book festive itineraries at three Strathmore Hotels’ locations.

The Scottish hotel group has announced its Christmas group packages, available at its Perth, Strathpeffer and Nethybridge hotels.

Each four-night stay includes breakfast, dinner, evening entertainment and a drinks reception. Here’s some of the highlights and sample itineraries at the hotels: 

Salutation Hotel, Perth

Located in the heart of the historic city of Perth, this is reported to be the oldest established hotel in Scotland, welcoming guests sinced 1699. One of its most famous patrons was said to be Bonnie Prince Charlie who stayed there in 1745 at the height of his struggle to regain the throne for the Stuart Kings. 

The hotel is not far from Dundee, Stirling and St Andrews, as well as the Perthshire and Kinross countryside and is a short distance from Gleneagles, home to three championship golf courses. 

Sample itinerary: 

Day 1: Groups check in before a pre-dinner glass of bubbly. Dinner and evening entertainment with Johnny Duncan.

Day 2: Start with a Scottish breakfast followed by a festive quiz. Christmas dinner is served in the evening and guests can dance to music from Callum Wallace.

Salutation Hotel

Day 3: Guests can enjoy a full Scottish breakfast before taking time to explore Perth. A carvery dinner will be served in the evening followed by a quiz. 

Day 4: Another Scottish breakfast will start the day, with the evening meal continuing the theme. After dinner, live music will be performed by Tommy Newcomen. 

Day 5: A final breakfast before departure.

Ben Wyvis Hotel, Strathpeffer

Named for the mountain that sits nearby, the Victorian mansion hotel is surrounded by five acres of woodland and lanscaped gardens. Ample parking provides space for large coaches. 

The Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer is conveniently located for exploring the Scottish Highlands and nearby attractions, including Glen Wyvis Distillery and Eilean Donan Castle.

Sample itinerary:

Day 1: Evening arrival followed by a gala candlelit dinner and live entertainment.

Day 2: Starts with a full Scottish breakfast. The rest of the day can be planned as groups wish before an evening meal and live music.

Day 3: Groups will be served a ‘Christmas Day’ dinner (including a flaming Christmas pudding) followed by live entertainment.

Day 4: The final evening meal will be a traditional Highland banquet. 

Day 5: Breakfast before departure.

Nethybridge Hotel, Speyside 

Based within the Cairngorm’s National Park (the largest in the country), this manor house hotel has outdoor activities like golf, fishing, cycling and horse riding on its doorstep.

Groups staying at Nethybridge can plan an excursion to the Speyside and Whisky Distillery, Inverness and the West Highland Line for a railway trip.

Sample itinerary:

Day 1: A gala candlelit dinner followed by live entertainment.

Day 2: Groups can have a full Scottish breakfast before spending the day out in Strathpeffer and surrounding areas. In the evening, a ‘Christmas Eve’ gala dinner is planned before live music and dancing.

Day 3: A Scottish breakfast and festive dinner bookend the day. 

Day 4: Groups can spend the day exploring the surrounding area, with an Abernethy Highland banquet planned for the evening.

Day 5: Breakfast and departure.
